| Obama wins South Carolina primary
It's my estimation this was all a very well constructed attack plan by Oprah's gigantic, & extremely well oiled multimedia machine, when she decided to influence the next presidential election, with her power parlay move. And to these same throngs of mindless Obamabots who keep bringing up this "experience issue" when comparing Hillary to Obama, one only has to compare the first day of occupancy of the next couple to get into the White House with all previous couples who've occupied the White House to understand how experience matters. On day one, the Obama's wouldn't even register on a comparison scale, while the Clintons could quite possibly beat *all* previous presidential couples who've occupied the White House in terms of experience, ability, & power. I hope this clears up this experience issue for you now.
More funding announced for Mackey renovation project
Purdue University trustee and alumnus Michael Birck is the latest donor to the Mackey Arena renovation project. Birck and his wife, Katherine, are giving $5 million to the project. Mackey Arena is 40 years old. The upgrades will include improved seating, ticket offices and other amenities, as well as a consolidation of athletic offices and training facilities under one roof. The project is expected to cost about $82.35 million. Purdue now has $20 million of the $30 million it plans to raise privately. The rest will come from the money the university receives through the Big Ten Network. Birck is a 1960 graduate in electrical and computer engineering and is chairman of Tellabs, a telecom services company he co-founded. In the past, Birck donated $30 million for the Birck Nanotechnology Center and gave for the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex and the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2008
Here is my Creators Syndicate column on the political landscape after Iowa and New Hampshire. I try to suggest in the first two sentences that things are very unsettled. "Five elections. Five winners." In both parties, we seem to have pretty firm factions operating. Usually there's a clear-cut difference between primaries and general elections. In seriously contested general elections, about 80 percent of the voters will vote the same way they did last time—about half of them Republican, half of them Democratic, with the proportions varying by constituency. With primaries, in contrast, voters are often all over the lot. They are not weighted down by party identification. They are ready to move anywhere. Yet sometimes they don't. There is a very high correlation in voting behavior between the Clinton/Obama race in 2008 and the Gore/Bradley race in 2000 in New Hampshire.
